Singarts piano from Singapore?

   Hi. I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the choice of pianos here isn't fantastic. Yamaha and Kawai are of course omni-present. Steinway are here but unfortunately totally out of my price range just now. I came across a shop in town that specialises in Petrof and Singarts. I wanted a baby grand - living in a condo anything overly large would just be overpowering from the sound point of view. Bought Singarts piano over a year ago and so far I'm loving it. For a good 15% less than the price of the entry level Yamaha (which is I think 149cm) I got a 180cm Grand. The actual feel (and I mean the tactile sensation of the materials) is streets ahead (I felt the smallest Yamaha the keys really felt quite plasticky).

Does anyone else have views on Singarts pianos?

	I am glad you have found your piano. Singarts is a Singapore brand, which specializes in musical instruments. A friend of mine bought a Singarts upright which is quite good. The piano is specially designed for tropical area, price is cheaper than YAMAHA / KAWAI, sound is mellow.

	I have 3 acoustic pianos made in Japan ranging from 1969 to 1978 and the quality and workmanship is excellent. In my view, acoustic pianos made in Japan now are likely worth the price, if you can afford it. Personally, I have tried Singarts pianos and would Be happy to buy one. But I'm not in the market to buy a piano at the moment. I already have one in almost every room of my home...

	I�d already been won over by the SingArts sound when I tried one locally but this instrument is on a different level. To my surprise (but perhaps not a surprise to others!) the SingArts did not live up to its hype. It�s by no means a bad piano but there�s no �oomph�. I quickly realised I was looking for a big concert sound and the SingArts simply doesn�t deliver it. I tried a Yamaha CLP675 and it felt very worthy, like the instrument I should choose, but people are so right about the action! I commented recently on a thread that I�d never counted hand pain/strain among my many complaints. That changed after playing the CLP675 for 20 minutes! The CLP645 action is lighter but nothing special. So there we go. I could have stayed for hours more playing the SingArts Classical and I�m so excited to get it delivered!
