The guide is split into three illustrated sections: uprights (covering 39 distinct models), grands (39) and digitals including hybrids (29). Each group is compiled in price order (UK pounds).

The upright pianos range from £3,378 for a Yamaha Classic b1 to £37,900 for a Steinway Model K. The grands go from £9,111 (Kawai GL-10) to £151,000 (Steinway Model D). And the digitals from £360 (Korg B2) to £19,964 (Yamaha AvantGrand N3X).

Featured Pianos

Although this publication isn’t a definitive guide to every piano available on the market, it is a helpful aid if you are in the market for a new instrument, or if you are just interested in seeing what kind of pianos are currently available.

The featured instruments do cover a wide range, although some Chinese pianos are notable by their absence. Nevertheless, there should be something here suitable for most budgets. A “Top Tips” section for those actively considering the purchase of a piano is also included.

The Pianist 2020 Piano Buyer’s Guide comprises 68 pages and can be purchased from Pianist magazine for just £2.99. UK delivery is free. Add £2.00 delivery for Europe, and £3.00 for the rest of the world.
